Our stay in Airton has been wonderful for hikes and wildlife watching. Just out our window we had a squirrel view point and the river below had an elegant stork which visited regularly.
Our third walk was only a 10 minute drive away in beautiful Malham Cove. Once on top of this Gorge it is so, so peaceful and serene. You feel like you are the only person in the world. The only sound to be heard is a baa… maaa …. from the local grazing sheep. The air is crisp, clean and fresh.
The views were just spectacular!!!
You can see why this area was used in one of the Harry Potter Movies. You feel like you are on top of the world in a place which holds great powers.
Malham is also a cute town.
Don’t you just love this sign!!
Or maybe this sign!!!
These festive turkey chips were well deserved after another great day hiking in the Yorkshire Dales.
The next morning before heading off we had to take one more look at our friendly squirrel who was busy collecting nuts for the long winter. The furry squirrel is such a hard little worker.
Aaaaah, the serenity!!! And you don’t even have to clean your boots when you call for a well earned drink after.
